Metalcorp Plain Fencing Wire
Metalcorp Steel’s Plain Wire range comes in soft, medium and high tensile, galvanised, and in a range of thicknesses, to suit every fence requirement.
A basic guide:
- Soft tensile wire is well suited to fire prone areas as it less affected by intense heats than high tensile wires, it does however require closer post spacing, as adequate tension is harder to achieve than with higher tensile material.
- It is the easiest plain wire to work with.
- Medium tensile wire combines the flexibility of soft wire with the strength of high tensile wire.
- It is available in standard galvanised and heavy galvanised.
- High tensile wire is strongest plain wire; it maintains its tension and can have much wider spaces between posts.
- This means it uses less material to construct fences, and requires less maintenance. It is the strongest, most durable and economical fencing wire.
Metalcorp Barbed Wire
Barbed Wire deters stock from rubbing against the fence, one of the major causes of fence damage. Generally, barbed wire is used in conjunction with prefabricated fencing to construct a dual purpose sheep and cattle fence although, in cattle country, fences constructed solely of barbed wire are still the rule. There are two types of barbed wire - high tensile pattern and IOWA pattern.
A basic guide:
- High tensile pattern barbed wire is produced from high tensile wire in a reverse twist pattern.
- It has great strength and durability, is easy to install and is suitable for cattle containment.
- It is not used in fire prone areas.
- IOWA barbed wire is produced from soft wire in a continuous twist pattern.
- The barbs are set at a 100mm nominal spacing and are wound into the twisted line wires.
- It is better suited to dry climates, and is well suited to bush fire prone areas as it is less likely to warp and snap under intense heat.
Steel Fence Droppers
The galvanised steel fence dropper is the most convenient and easy to use fence dropper. They are quickly and easily attached to the wire component, Steel Fence Droppers are manufactured from high tensile heavily galvanised steel coil which is formed into a wide, deep "W" section to provide that extra strength and rigidity required from a dropper. Steel fence droppers help to spread the pressure of stock leaning on the fence from one wire, to all wires, reducing the risk of wire breakage.
Steel Fence Posts
Steel Fence Posts are economical, quick and easy to erect and strong which means your fence lasts longer. Pre-punched holes allow easy attachment of prefabricated fencing, plain and barbed wire. Fence Posts support and space the wire components, and give the fence resistance to overturning. Plain or Barbed Wire fences require post spacing’s up to 20 metres apart. Recommendations are that posts can be placed up to 20 metres apart on ring joint and up to 10 metres apart on Hinged Joint.
Steel Fence Posts - Black Painted
Fence Post with a black varnished finish. Steel Fence Posts are manufactured to standard lengths of 135, 150, 165, 180 and 240cm. Posts are punched with an 8mm diameter hole and are centred to suit common types of fencing materials and fence designs.
Steel Fence Posts - Galvanised
Fence Post with a galvanised finish. Black varnished posts provide adequate performance, however in corrosive environments such as coastal areas the heavily galvanised fence post is recommended. Hobby Farmers generally make use of the galvanised range.
Metalcorp Hinged Joint
Features horizontal graduated mesh spacing’s, small graduations from bottom to top to prevent the access or escape of small animals. Sometimes referred to as Acreage Mesh, Metalcorp Steel’s Hinged Joint range offers a safe, secure and flexible fencing option for grazing stock. Ideal for undulating land, Metalcorp Hinged Joint is designed to flex under the pressure of animals and other forces, and then return to its original shape. This flexibility helps to avoid minor damage, prolonging the life of the fence.
Metalcorp Wire Netting
Available in a variety of wire diameters and mesh apertures to ensure that wire netting is suitable for an assortment of applications. Ideal for a variety of uses around the yard including poultry pens, pet enclosures, rabbit proof fencing and protecting ponds and gardens from birds and cats. Metalcorp Wire Netting can range in aperture sizes 13mm - 50mm. Wire sizes can range from 0.56mm to 1.4mm. Height ranges from 30mm to 180cm high.
Ring Joint
A purpose made fence with the added benefits of reduced need for steel droppers and increased post spacing’s, making for a more economical fencing material. Ring joint is a much stronger fence and designed to absorb stock pressure. It is ideal for undulating land, and is easily and quickly installed.
Trellis Wire
Our range of Trellis Wire comes in a number of diameters to suit every trellising requirement. Trellis Wire is ideal for drip lines, trellising and fruiting wire for heavier bearing vines and trees as well as end stay bracing or tie backs.
Tie Wire
Ideal for tying light and mediuim meshes, plant support, trellising tomatoes and general garden work. Tie wire is a galvanised, soft tensile wire, often used for tying barbed wire, wire netting, chain wire, and hinged joint to strainer wire, trellis wire or tomato wire. Tie wire is easily cut and easily manipulated. Can be available in black.
Tomato Wire
As the name suggests, Tomato Wire is used primarily to train vines of various vegetables and fruit. It can be easily re-rolled and stored for future seasons.
