Merchant Bar

Used in the majority of metals businesses, Metalcorp Steel has the complete range of merchant bar covered. Our range of flats, rounds, angles, squares and more are crucial to the engineering and fabrication world along with many others, and with our vast range of stock sizes on hand, you can be assured of the best result, first time. Merchant Bar Sections available comprise:

Flats (Black and Galvanized)

Flat steel bar available in two finishes black and a range of galvanised sizes.  Common uses of the product are steel balustrades, connector plates and purlin cleats.

• Black flats can be supplied in a range of 20mm x 3mm, through to 300mm x 25mm. Some sizes are slit from plate. Extra small flats are in a range from 10mm x 3mm through to 16mm x 5mm and are only available in 4 metre lengths.
• Galvanized (DuraGal®) flats can be supplied in a range of 50mm x 4mm through to 150mm x 8mm.

Rounds

Round bar is a circular solid steel section. It can be used in many and varied applications such as tent pins, earth stakes, axles etc.

• Sizes available from Metalcorp Steel range from 6mm through to 100mm in diameter.

Angles (Black and Galvanized)

Angles are a 90 degree angle bar. Angles come in two coating finishes; black, which is a mill finish and galvanised, which is an inline galvanised product. Common uses include bed frames, box trailers, high voltage power poles and many more applications.

• Black angles can be supplied from 20mm x 20mm through to 200mm x 200mm and thicknesses of 3mm through to 26mm.
• Galvanized (DuraGal®) angles can be supplied from 30mm x 30mm through to 90mm x 90mm and thicknesses of 2.5mm through to 8mm.

Squares

Square bar is a solid steel bar. The most common applications of this product can be seen in security doors and windows as well as other ornate architectural and balustrade applications.

• Sizes available from Metalcorp Steel range from 10mm x 10mm through to 25mm x 25mm. Other sizes include 40mm x 40mm which is supplied in AS 1442-1040 and in 6.7 m lengths.

Bright and Special Steels*

Bright and special steels are referred to as such because of their special chemical compositions in the steel. Generally, they tend to be of a higher and harder grade than most general steels. The products range from squares, rounds, flats, angles and hollow bars. Bright and special steels are used when high strength is required. Applications include trailer axles, conveyor roller axles, bearings, etc.
